Cardboard Core Specifications 

Nobody inspects a core until something goes wrong with the roll. These three specs are usually where it went wrong:

    Internal Diameter Accuracy

• The core has to sit on your machine’s shaft without play.
• Standard internal diameters: 50mm, 76mm, 152mm, and 204mm.
• Diameter is checked against spec before delivery.
• A diameter that is off means an unstable roll and slower winding.

    Wall Thickness and Flat Crush Resistance

Wall thickness carries the roll weight. Flat crush tells you how much pressure the core takes before it deforms:

• Wall thickness from 3mm to 20mm depending on size.
• Flat crush from 600 to 6,000 N/10cm depending on size and spec.
• Heavier rolls and higher winding tension need a thicker wall and higher flat crush.
